Villiersdorp is a beautiful village in South Africa, an hour's drive from Cape Town. There is a lively fruit cultivation industry and it also faces the challenges of other rural farming communities; high levels of poverty, unemployment and many children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). If children simply roam the streets here, they are exposed to the dangers of violence and abuse. It is even the case that the house where Pieter and Maria support the children, unfortunately needs a high fence around it to protect them.
