“Tears were running down our cheeks
when we found one of the children who
was missing. After 1 1/2 days he was
found alive under the debris.”

The new lives of hundreds of children in Haiti literally lie in ruins. A life’s work of 30 years has been destroyed almost completely.

Over the last years hundreds of underprivileged children have received shelter in the children’s village Bon Repos. These children were living in the streets, because they are orphans. Vulnerable, helpless, forgotten. In the village built by Johan and Wilcie Smoorenburg, these children were given new hope and a new future. The project was growing and blooming until it was hit by one of the most horrible disasters the country ever knew.

“It’s a miracle no one was killed in the village, but the situation is disastrous”, says Johan Smoorenburg. “There were already too many orphans, but because of the earthquake their number only has increased”. Some 450 children, elderly people and staff were living in the village. In the meantime hundreds of orphans, homeless and injured people from outside the village have been taken care of.

“We work twenty hours a day, we do what we can. We provide clean water and food, but gradually our supplies are running out. On top of that we fear to be plundered, because the wall around the village has completely collapsed. The wall guaranteed the safety of our children.””

The children of Haiti desperately need your help. Please donate your contribution today. We have a heart for children. May we address yours?
